Origens Geopark is a magnificent tourism destination full of possibilities
At the beginning of the 20th century, industry in Catalonia was suffering due to a lack of carbon. People needed to find a new energy source to ensure its continuation, and they turned to the powerful rivers of the Pyrenees. Within the Geopark, people built multiple hydroelectric centres that provided electricity to all of Catalonia. Today, visitors can discover the hydroelectric centres of Talarn (La Central) and the Torre de Capdella (Capdella Hydroelectric Museum)
At the Epicentre. Visitors Centre you can find more information about the different activities on offer in the Geopark. In addition to the Epicentre, there are other centres and museums as well as a wide range of things to do: routes, visits, activities, expositions, festivals and traditions, and local cuisine.
There are also educational activities where people of all ages can learn more about geology, paleontology, history and hydroelectricity. Elementary schools, high schools and universities are frequent visitors.
